The series deals with one of the most famous of the Abbasid Caliphs, Haroun Al-Rasheed’s confusion in choosing among his sons to succeed him, including Muhammad bin Haroun, known as Al-Amin, the son of Zubeida, Al-Rasheed’s cousin and a descendent of the Bani Abbas on both sides of the family, and Abdullah bin Al-Rashid, known as Al-Ma’moun, who is well educated and wise; a man of first degree. Al-Rasheed must choose which one will succeed over the other and so his Vizier suggests that the succession be passed to Al-Amin, followed by Ma’moun. This is where events start to unfold and the story begins
